This time last year, after Shawn and I traveled to Mexico I posted a review on the DiCAPac, the waterproof camera case. The blog was just a few months old at that point so I figured this review was worth revisiting as many of us plan our Spring vacations and summer trips. I will say without any doubt, this is one of the best investments I have ever made! It will forever change the way I photograph and capture memories on vacation.
Ever since I was younger I have had a knack and passion for capturing moments and memories with friends and family with my camera. I have a coffee table and shelves full of albums. Even now, my camera comes with me everywhere. It’s fixated on my hip (or Shawn’s :)). So naturally, when I booked last year's trip to Mexico, I knew there were going to be lots of moments I would want to capture on film – many of which would involve sand and water. As a result, I researched for weeks for a way to protect my precious Nikon from the elements while still being able to capture all of the adventures in a manner which would preserve the quality of my photos.
If you have ever researched protective cases for your DSLR, or other electronic devices, you know the options available can be quite pricey. I was so incredibly pleased to come across the DiCAPac, a protective waterproof case which is light-weight, easy to travel with and carry, and still allowed me to easily man the dials, functions and zoom on my camera. Oh, and did I mention all while taking crisp, clear photos? Oh, AND at an amazing price point of only $69 via amazon.com and dicpac.com? There is also a very cool iPad and iPhone case option as well!
I’ll be honest, I was skeptical at first a product less than $100 would protect my very expensive camera, so I (or Shawn, rather – he’s the smart one in our party of two :)) tested it out in the tub to ensure the seal was air tight and would not let a drop of moisture in. Once in Mexico, we took the DiCAPac everywhere – to the beach in the sand, on our snorkel trip where I was able to take pictures UNDER water, in the pool allowing me to take pics of friends and family, etc. And when I wasn’t taking pictures, the unit simply floated in the pool right next to me – yes, I said floated – it was great! It’s one of the best purchases I’ve made in a good while. I could not be more thrilled I now have a way to capture all of my memories while protecting one of my largest investments. I highly recommend it!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you all are having a great week!

ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome! I didn't take my DSLR to Mexico last year because I was worried about ruining it. I took an old digital camera so it was better quality than my phone but this is a great option to still get good pictures!
