I love this time of year so much.
While the temperatures are cool and crisp, everything else about this season is filled with warmth and love. It's the season of giving, spreading love and good cheer.
Whether you're looking for a local spot to entertain out-of-town guests over the holiday's, or are looking to make things easy for yourself and friends by hosting dinner out, I'm elated to share with you all one of my favorite Chicago hot-spots, Dolce Italian.
Dolce Italian offers authentic Italian classics in an approachable yet elegant and intimate atmosphere.
The space itself represents a harmony of Chicago's architectural history and chic mid-century modern Italian furniture and design features. Just as the concepts brings these cultures together as a whole, from the food, to the service, every aspect of the Dolce experience, will marry the charm of yesterday's Italy to the modern Chicago social life.
Dolce Italian offers a range of classics from authentic Neapolitan pizza to pastas made from scratch, in house. I'll talk more about the spectacular pasta and meatballs later in this post - but I'll tell you - it was nothing short of a quick trip to heaven.
Last weekend, Shawn and I had the pleasure of dining at Dolce for their incredible Sunday brunch and let me just say, the rave reviews were spot on.
We started with a double dose of Dolce 'Benny' (featuring poached eggs, porchetta, spinach on a toasted homemade ciabatta bread and topped with hollandaise) and a the Semonlina Waffle.
Now, before I get into the remainder of the experience, I have to be 100% honest with you. Eggs benedict - of any kind- are at the very top of my breakfast favorites. With that said, I have tried no less than 100 varieties from some of the most famous restaurants across the country, but these ... the Dolce 'Benny' were undescribably delicious - something out of this world good.
In fact, I began to take a few photos before biting in and thank goodness I did because as soon as the first fork full entered my mouth it only took a few additional moments before the plate was gone. Really.
While I enjoyed my Dolce 'Benny', Shawn enjoyed the Waffles. Topped with a cinnamon fruit compote and creme fraiche, the waffles were delightfully warm with a nice outer crunch. A must try. To compliment these amazing brunch treats, diners can also enjoy Dolce's Bubbles Package which features bottomless Bellini's, Mimosas's and Bloody Mary's for only $19/person. Cheers , y'all!
We concluded our brunch experience with the amazing Spaghetti Al Pomodoro and Meatballs followed by Tiramisu. Topped with San Marzano tomatoes and parmigiano, the pasta is created in house daily.
This Thanksgiving, celebrate with friends at family with Italian Flare at Dolce.
On Thursday, November 26th from 2:00PM - 9:00PM diners can enjoy a prix fixe menu at $60/person (excluding gratuity and beverages). Kick the meal off with antipasta starters and Chestnut Soup or Autumn Salad, followed with a variety of pasta dishes including Lobster Mezzalune, Butternut Squash Ravioli and Fettuccine Alla Bolognese. The main course offers a classic Roasted Turkey, Braised Short Ribs and Grilled Pork Chops, along with others. Put the finishing touches on the meal with an assortment of four delightful desserts including Apple Tart topped with vanilla ice cream and Nutella Budino with salted caramel crumble.
Finally, toast to those you love, and all you're thankful for, with Dolce's fine selection of wine, specialty cocktails and beer.
