When you think of 'polished and professional' office looks, leather may not be the first style choice that comes to mind. But, leather is not just for your off-duty style. With these 5 tips your inner fashionsita will continue to shine - and rule in the boardroom - looking poised and professional.
). Get the right fit. Whether you're choosing a great pencil skirt or a pair of leather pants, be sure you are choosing a fit that is not too fitted overall - specifically around your hips and thighs. I love this faux leather skirt for it's more a-line fit making it perfectly fitting for the office while remaining very classy.
). Check and double check the length. For me particularly, I love a midi on knee length to be safe. Remember, when sitting at the office, your skirt will ride up 3-4 inches so be sure to do a double check before heading out.
). Pair perfectly. When styling a leather skirt, or pants even, team the look with a feminine blouse or sweater in a sophisticated pattern, color or paired with an oversized blazer/coat. I love both looks with a silk tie-neck blouse or colorful cashmere sweater, for example.
). Give unexpected leather pieces a try. If pants or a skirt aren't your things, try an unexpected leather piece, like a leather shell, a go over a button-down top paired with trousers or wide leg pants. A clean, well-fitting leather blazer is another great way to marry both class and style.
). When in doubt, start with leather accessories. If donning leather to the office just isn't your thing just yet, try getting your feet wet with more bold leather accessories. I love pairing a great pencil skirt and blazer with a thick leather belt cinched around the waist. It's a great way to look stylish, but pulled together professionally.
