Coffee Table Style: On a Budget

Morning, y'all! Happy Monday! Today, I'm so excited to partner with Glade to bring you a special peek inside my home.

With the holiday's newly behind us, Shawn and I have been diligently working to pack away all the holiday decor and replacing with fresh, fun, bold styles to quickly usher in the new seasons.

Like many of you, our home is our sanctuary. We want the our home to be inviting, warm and filled with energy and excitement for both our families and our guests to enjoy.

As many of you are updating your living spaces for entertaining friends and family in the new year, i wanted to show you some cost effective ways to update one of my favorite rooms in the house - our living room - and more specifically my favorite decor space - the coffee table.

Books vs. Magazines:  I love decorating my home with stylish coffee table books, but they can get expensive, right?  With some of my favorites ranging anywhere from $30-$150, having the luxury to stack multiple books can put a dent in my wallet.  As an alternative, stack your magazine subscriptions as a great way to add color to your space - not to mention - they make great reading materials when entertaining guests.

Real vs. Faux:  There are fewer things I love in my home than fresh flowers and candles (the candles I'll get to in a moment).  And while I love making the trip to the market for fresh blooms each week, they too can get costly when decorating multiple rooms in the house.  Instead, look for faux flower alternatives from great shops like Target, Home Goods, Crate & Barrel and West Elm (to name a few).  Their are a number of fantastic options out there that will leave your home looking beautiful for months.

Items Throughout the House:  To add additional color and movement in your room, look to other places in the house for creative styling options.  For example, I took a cute serving bowl from the kitchen I have typically used during Easter and added to the top of the a stack of magazines and filled with lemons to add dimension and vibrancy to the room.  When decorating, be creative and have fun!   Shopping your inventory you already have at home is a great way to save money and repurpose some of your favorite home goods.

The Power of Scents: I don't know about you all, but I have a serious addiction to candles. It's an addiction I've had since my mom dragged me to a "candle party" she was attending with girlfriends when I was like 10 years old.  When I was growing up, my mom always had great candles burning representative of the season and it made our home feel incredibly cozy and warm.  To this day, I try my best to create the same feelings in my home - in every room.  Whether it be Sparkling Spruce during the holiday's or Clean Linen for Spring and Summer, a great candle can enhance the hood of any season.  But again, you don't have to break the bank to add amazing sets to your home.  To usher in the new season, and get excited for Spring, I have been burning this floral, flirty scent Red Honeysuckle Nectar for my family and guests.   And at $2.99, you cannot beat the energetic, lively atmosphere it will create!

    1. Definitely! Not to mention, I have so many magazines that I had to find another place for them other than my kitchen counter or nightstand :) I also love how much color they can add to the room. Hope you had a great weekend! XO

  19. Loving this post girl. I'm not sure what it is (perhaps the 26th birthday that's fast approaching) but lately I've been in serious nesting mode. I mean, I'm spending money on rugs and storage units instead of shoes. SO FRICKIN' WEIRD. I'm super excited to finally create a grown up space I feel at home in though so please, keep these posts coming!

  24. Love your coffee table and the pops of red! I've been collecting coffee table books (I always ask for them as a gift idea) so my coffee table is pretty packed...which I love :) Faux flowers are definitely a great idea as well, I need to check out Home Goods for some because I've been on the hunt.
