Your Fall Must-Haves

Happy Friday, y'all! We made it to the weekend!

If you've been following along on Instagram, then you likely saw my post Wednesday night regarding my distain for Fall fashion. I know, I know - how is it possible I could ever hate what others look forward to all year?  Let me explain (in my best Kevin Hart voice!)

As a girl with a petite frame, thicker thighs and calfs, a small waist and an ass, I have almost always found it difficult to fit in some of the great trends of the past - such as OTK boots. In the past, I have often felt 'layers' just make me look more short and/or stumpy.  I much rather wear a great midi or leather skirt, a killer pair of sandals or maxi dress.

This Fall, however, I think I have finally found cool weather essentials that make me feel equally fun and flirty.  And, I am going to apologize in advance is you see all of these essentials on major rotation these next few weeks.  Here a just a few essentials I think every girl should stock her closet with as the cold temperatures roll in:

1).  A blanket scarf.  I seem to collect more and more every year.  I love this option from Coldwater Creek for it's versatile black, white and grey print.  It also looks amazing belted with a great dress and knee-high boots.

2). A chunky, cozy sweater.  Who doesn't want to wrap up in a cozy sweater all when the temperatures drop?  If you follow the blog, you know I am a HUGE fan of J.Jill (you can see some of their other styles in this 'Summer to Fall Essentials' & 'Chambray Shirtdress' posts - just to name a few).  They have an extensive collection of fabulous Fall and Winter sweaters this season - most of which come in petite sizes (a bonus if you're like me and the sleeves are always too long).  A classic black, ivory or grey sweater can be paired with virtually everything in your closet - from great jeans, to a leather pencil skirt to shorts in the Spring even.  

3).  Over-the-knee boots.  Now, I'll be 100% honest with you, since last year I must have tried over 4 dozen OTK boot options with very little success.  I even purchased the Stuart Weitzman OTK boots last year, that I maybe wore twice, because they look absolutely ridiculous on me.  However, this year, I finally found luck with both these Nine West suede boots and these flat leather over the knee boots.  Both fit over my more wide calf, slip on easily over legging jeans AND are really comfortable.  Definitely give either or both of these a try this season!  You will not be disappointed! 

4).  A felt hat.  I have owned my black J.Crew felt hat and this great Target felt hat (only $17!) for the last several years and wear them endlessly!  And I mean it!  I wear them with virtually everything in the Fall and winter.  

5).  A versatile bucket bag.  I wear this black leather bucket bag with everything as well. It's versatile for all seasons and deep enough to hold all of my daily essentials.  Not to mention, the leather is buttery soft!  

6).  A fabulous pair of sunnies.  This pair reminds me of the Prada and Dior pairs everyone is swooning over this season, but at a fraction of the price!  Ellison Eyewear also has a really cool story.  Each pair of sunglasses is designed in collaboration with various artists throughout the US and is designed, crafted and uniquely packaged.  Also, which each pair of sunglasses sold, Ellison provides funds to stop preventable blindness.  They're pretty fantastic.  I think you'll think so, too :)
